Penis Deviation

A deviated or crooked penis can make a sexual intercourse impossible. In some cases the deviation is due to an anatomic aberration or systemic diseases or specific diseases of the connective tissues but in most cases, a simple operation can solve the problem.

Principle: Through small incisions on the shaft of the penis, a shortening of the side opposed to the deviation gives a correction. The operation is performed under artificial erection.

Anaesthetic: Conscious sedation and local anaesthetic.

Operating time: 1 hour.

Complications

Referred unwanted biologic events can occur with a certain low frequency and must be regarded as calculated risks. Other risks not mentioned can also occur. For patients this must be considered before a decision for plastic surgery is made.

Bleeding: All operations can cause postoperative bleeding. These risks increase by the intake of analgesics and Vitamin E.These should be avoided 2 weeks prior to the planned operation.

Infection: All operations can cause infections, which in case it happens will be treated with antibiotics.

Relapse: If the plasty is torn ( erection, sex ) the threads can partially or totally tear through the tissues and the penis will bend again.
