Dr Opitz graduated from
dental school at the university in Göttingen/Germany 1972 and from the medical
school 1973. The board certification in plastic and reconstructive surgery
was 1982 achieved at the university hospital in Malmö, continuing as assistant
professor at the university hospital in Copenhagen until 1988. In 1982 Dr.
Opitz started his private clinic for cosmetic plastic surgery. Since 1988
the clinic is run as a full time occupation.
Dr Opitz performs clinical research within the speciality and newer techniques
are early taken up if they are considered to be of significant improvement.
The liposuction-technique was 1982 introduced to Scandinavia by Dr. Opitz
as was the ultrasonic assisted liposuction in 1993. The endoscopic technique
within plastic surgery was early introduced and the first system for computerised
morphing was introduced in Scandinavia 1991.
