Dr. Opitz first steps into the world of medicine were taken when he finished his education as a dental surgeon from Göttingen University in Germany. This was in 1972 and a year later Dr. Opitz could add "doctor in medicine" to his degrees.

The road to become one of Scandinavia's best known plastic surgeon wound around the University Hospital in Malmö, where Dr. Opitz finished his education as a specialist in plastic surgery in 1982. The next six years were spent on one side to build up his own aesthetic Clinic and on the other to serve at the danish University Hospital, Rigshospitalet, most of the time as deputy chief surgeon.

From 1988 The Clinic has been the sole focus of interest and here Dr. Opitz has proved to be one of Scandinavia's pioneer within the field of plastic surgery. Since 1988 Dr. Opitz has consulted patients once a week in Copenhagen and from time to time he has taken on some interesting projects abroad.

Dr. Opitz has been engaged in research during his whole professional career and is always open for new techniques where they are judged to be effective and secure. It was Dr. Opitz who introduced Sweden for liposuction in 1982 and he was the first to remove fat with ultrasound in 1993. But it's not only the cool technical possibilities Dr. Opitz is renown for. His professional caring manner is maybe what the patients remember best when they look into the mirror and enjoy the genially artistic work of Dr. Opitz.
